This tank is served by a dedicated well and is free to use for property owners of NFR. The well upkeep and monthly electric bills are paid for from association dues.
Little Library
A little library open to all. Leave a book, take a book to keep or return, leave or take seeds. All we ask is that you leave it in good condition with the door securely closed. You can find the library by the mailboxes on ACR 3167. This is a private library and is not affilliated with a county or city library.
Stanford General Store
The Stanford General Store and Y bar is located on Highway 61 about a quarter mile from the Y intersection of Highways 60 and 61. A selection of grocery items, a deli, beer and wine and hardware are available. The full service bar features live music many afternoons. Gas, diesel and propane are also available.
If you can't fiind what you are looking for at the Stanford store, a Dollar General is just across the street.
Ortega Mountain
Ortega Mountain dominates the view north from NFR. It is approximately 7000 feet in elevation, making the peak about 300 feet higher than NFR. A public access road off of Highway 60 allows for vehicle, horse or pedestrian traffic to reach the summit.
Area wildlife
Pronghorn antelope, the second fastest land mammal with a top speed of 60 mph, are one of the sights you will see in the area along with elk, coyotes, wolves, black bear and birds of prey such as hawks and bald eagles.
Greens Peak
Greens Peak is a short drive from NFR. Take Highway 60 to Forest Road 117 and follow the signs to the peak. You can drive to the top or park off the access road and hike it. The elevation of 10,000 feet affords a 360 degree view of the area.
